NAS Cpu recommendation? flexraid on Windows Server Essential or 2012

I've pretty much narrowed down my NAS to be FlexRaid on Windows Server at this point.. there is still a chance I may go into uncharted waters (for me) and try linux, which would lower requirements..

I was about to get the A4-5300 dual core cpu which is a bit less powerful as the i3 i believe.

I know the basic requirements for Windows Server 2012.. pretty light, but I'm looking for real world thoughts here...

NAS running flexraid with 3 x 4TB plus OS drive, eventually as many as 8 drives and a flexraid double parity..

I may also put some home media server style web hostings/downloaders on this box as well..

Either way I guess the load is light for 1-2 htpc's being served up, possibly using the same NAS for backups only in middle of night as well..

Am I going to run into bottlenecks with this a4 processor..

I was considering dumping the hardware out of my htpc, an i5-5xx essentially and then upgrading its hardware..

Guessing the i5 is a more solid fit if doing windows server.

Its my basic belief that the a4 would be "adequate" most of the time, but that it may bog down when doing admin tasks, depending on whether or not its being utilized at that time?

Only think I can think of is that people normally swear by Intel NICs, and most 1155 boards over MATX have Intel NICs built in. If you wanted one on an AMD compatable board, you would need a PCI-e card. Maybe not a biggie to you, but from what I have read, for minimising problems down the road, and maintaining throughput, you may want to consider an Intel setup.

Saying that, excluding what I have said, I don't think you would really notice much difference in your situation!
