Napp-it/Oracle 11 Network linked?

Hi guys. This is my first post.

I know this question is network related but this form is where I've seen all the Napp-it experts and I think the issue is with Napp-it.

I'm currently rebuilding an NFS storage box from Centos/NFS to Napp-it on Oracle Solaris 11. This storage is shared by 3 esxi 5.1 hosts.

I have a friend who works in enterprise virtualization/storage helping me with this build remotely.

In an effort to stop bugging him with every little question while he's working and 'learn behind his back', I thought I'd ask here.

My build is on a SuperMicro MBD-X9SCM-F-O board with dual Lan. I've also installed an Intel dual Lan card. This gives me a total of 4 ports. I have assigned 1 onboard port and 1 nic port to to a different IP on the same subnet.

Onboard port 1: 192.168.3.17
Onboard port 2: 192.168.5.17
NIC port 1: 192.168.3.18
NIC port 2: 192.168.5.19

At some point, I would like to do some teaming but at the moment, I am testing through put on different ports, cards, and switches.

I reboot the storage this morning and observed something unexpected. Now that everything is back up, if I pull out the cable from NIC port 1 (3.18), I can neither ping nor enter the web-interface on 3.18 OR 3.17.

Likewise, I have shared storage in ESXi mapped to 5.19. If I pull the cable for 5.17, storage goes off line. I can see in nappit web interface that I am pulling the correct cable when I do this with storage. on the 3.18-3.17 cables, I can't access the web interface at all regardless of which one I pull.

I hope this makes sense. It seems like the up/down state of the NIC's with the same subnet have become linked. I can confirm it wasn't like this before the reboot. Any idea what's going on here?

Thank you in advance.

Roland

I solved this issue with my friends help. I have 4 nics configured in napp-it on two different subnets. When I click on each ip to set its address, the gateway is already filled in for you. If I make a change to the gateway, it applies to all 4 nics. That being said, the gateway only applies to the port you set it on. I must have applied the gateway on the wrong port. When I reapplied it to the 3.17 port, everything came back up properly.
