I have heard hitting 60's on these chips is safe. Under load my temps are mid 60's at 3Ghz with Prime95 stressing all 4 cores. Is this actually safe? I'm leary, coming from an AMD background where I didn't like my chip hitting 50c....

I'm on the stock cooler and plan on likely keeping it at 3Ghz. I don't really want to buy an aftermarket cooler yet if these temperatures aren't going to do any harm.

Is this okay?

70c is supposed to be max for these, I'd be worried about your ambient room temperature going up in summertime and raising your cpu temps accordingly as you don't have alot of breathing room.

Hopefully this won't be a problem for you (is for me, room can go from 72 to 80 depending on how many PC's are running).

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, even with a lapped q6600 and TRUE. But i am at 3.6ghz w/ 1.46v.

I'm pretty sure these are fine under 70c, but as stated earlier.. you might want some headroom come summer time, unless you're under stable ambient temperatures yearly.

I also read that 72c is that max safe CASE temp... meaning the temperature on top of the cpu, not the actual cores. With that logic, i'm guessing that the cores can withstand much more, though I wouldn't push it. Correct me if i'm wrong.
