There is something seriously wrong with my psu or something... I cant quite figure it out. My computer will randomly turn off (why!?!?) and my hdds wont be detected. I have to jiggle the power cables on the hdds to get them to be detected. I have an Abit nf7s 2.0, AMD Athlon xp 3200+, 512mb Kingston HyperX pc4000, 2x 12v 120mm, 1x 92mm 12v, 2x 80mm 12v, Dvd burner, floppy and the case leds and my case badge led. I dont know whats going on...

I have a 400w Powmax.

It's hard to tell why you'd be experiencing shut downs, as they can be hardware or software caused, but if you have to jiggle stuff around then definatly consider upgrading the power supply, theres no reason to have such a nice setup like that and a questionable power supply. A nice Antec Truepower 330 watt or better would work nicely. Also, toss in another 512MB stick of memory if you can afford it, 1 gig is definatly worth it :)

Yea, only had one 512 when I got this stick, I planned on getting a gig. And actually, Im thinking about selling this 512 because I cant push my fsb up high at all (AMD). I dont really need pc4000 with an AMD system, ya know? Anyways... anyone have a link to a good psu? Ide like to get something around 400w... its going to be such a pain to mod another psu. Ive got my case modded, with my psu in a peculiar place, so I would have to mod the psu to work here. =).

Also, another thing, it could be crashing because of my overclock, although I had the same overclock with my pc3200 100% stable.

Powmax is so bad that I would rather be without a computer than risk any hardware to such a poor supply. If you're on a budget, get a nice 300-350w Fortron, but if you've got the cash, you can't go wrong with Antec True Power or Enermax.

enermax's stuff rocks, stay away from generic psu, because they like to make smoke!!!!
