Hey everyone. Its not final but these are the parts to my SFF pc I plan on buying.

I most likely will be buying these piece by piece in the following order. any suggestions I would appreciate it! (And I most likely will be swapping parts from my main rig until I get more money.)
Case- Either Ultra Blue case (Windows, cheaper) or Ultra black (No windows more expensive)

600 watts is more than enough for any SFF system.

Mobo: Personally, I will only buy Asus or Abit, but EVGA has made a decent name for themselves in recent years when it comes to graphics cards... I haven't heard much about their motherboards though.

Graphics Card: Should be a solid choice.

CPU: Why oh why do people even try to build AMD systems now, spend the same or less money on a Core 2 Duo chip and get better performance out of the box, and a lot more when compared OC to OC.

Hard drive: 74 gig raptors are a complete waste of money. You can easily get SATA drives that compare within a couple percent of perforance with a lot more capacity for less price. If you must have a Raptor (which no one really needs, the only thing it really benefits in are boot up times and load speeds) go for the 150 gig, if not, get one of the better WD or Maxtor drives. If you want quiet, go Seagate or Samsung.

EDIT: Oh, and I'd go for the black case. It's just personal opinion, but I will only have a computer that is beige or black. Plus, windows add case flex, which may not be an issue for you, but if you are going for a SFF, you are probably looking for an HTPC or something easy to transport a lot, and case flex is bad for something you are going to be moving around a lot, and black matches HT components a lot more.
 
If only the 965G chipset boards were out... Core 2 duo would be the perfect choice.
 
Okay I tihnk ill ditch the 600 watt and perhaps try the stock psu that comes with the case. The black case i like alot too! I dont need windows pshh I rather have the strenghth in the case. I wonder If a 7900 will fit will in that case though?

So you like the GPU right? and the cpu I have to have, im a amd fan and thats a good deal on it.

Your right about the HDD Ill get a better one.


and the mobo. It seems like a good mobo and has a lot of good features. too bad lanboy dont make any micro atx's
 
I was gonna say to go AM2 to be more future proof but I see that you want SLI. I like the black microfly. If your not going to SLI I would seriously consider going AM2 if not for the hope of K8L but atleast for a hope that 65nm parts OC better. As far as C2D, there are no motherboards yet and when they do come out we don't know the cost.

I dont need the SLI after I just learned what it was for. Can you point me to some good am2 boards? I need socket 939 remember.

Black micro fly is a favorite. Is the cpu and gpu okay?

What is am2 btw?

C2D= Intel Core 2 Duo

Oh, you want to transfer parts over from an old rig. In that case look at the DFI or Biostar board. Biostar TFORCE6100-93 or DFI RS482. They are both good for overclocking. Read the mATX thread and find more info. I sold all my socket 939 stuff just to move to AM2 just to be a little more future proof but the mATX 939 boards are more stable for overclocking.

I was thinking of trying the black JPAC case too. It's like the microfly but the front is all black with no silver. The microfly has more room for a psu than an x-qpack so that's good if you want to upgrade.

The CPU is good, I was gonna upgrade to the 3800 just because it was cheaper and can still overclock well. I have no experience with the GPU though.

Am2. This socked "940" I would imagine the CPU I want that would fit that would be alot of money. Correct?

I heard alot of good things about tihs DFI RS482 board. My hp has a ms480. Would I be able to install a Nvidia card on a ati board? And the cpu, the 4400+ should do well? even if i OC it?

The JPAC case, does that need a dremel tool to cut an opening for the massive 8" video card? Thanks again!

AM2 cpus are the same price (although the street price is a few dollars higher). But you need a new motherboard which are also 5-10 dollars more expensive and the DFI board is not out yet.

Yeah using Nvidia in Ati is all right and vice versa. But you could just go with the T-force if you want things to match. Your CPU will be great and you could OC as well. I still think it would be an all right option to buy the X2 3800+ and overclock it. With the money you save you could move up to an AM2 setup (if you want). At newegg the X2 3800+ is $160 and the T-force is $75 (but you will need some new ram (DDR2). The thing about AM2 is that it looks like you will be able to upgrade to the upcoming AMD K8L processors when they come out next year.

The JPAC case is the same as the microfly, so no you don't need to mod anything for the video card to fit.
Check this review of the microfly The only thing about the JPAC is I would change out the stock power supply. I think this case is out of stock at newegg though.
