I have a Micro Fly which is currently holding a 4-drive RAID array, OS hard drive, 5.25 optical drive, and AMD 780G Gigabyte board with AMD 64 X2 4000+, Brisbane with stock cooler. There is no room to mount of one my RAID disks so it's just kind of "hanging out" on the other side of the HDD-bracket. You'll see later with pics.
MassiveOverkill's mesh side window inspired me to take the plastic out of one of my windows. It's the window on the PSU side. I don't have mesh for it yet, and I think I might benefit from getting one of those airflow partitions that MassiveOverkill installed.
It used to have just the motherboard and OS drive, and it was a lot quieter. I think the PSU is heating up, and the fan is spinning faster.
The air coming out of the 120mm exhaust is nice and chilly, but the air coming out of the PSU is toasty. I replaced the front fan with an Antec Tricool 80mm. It's on low, I might raise it to medium or high if I don't get the temps I want. I know it's not the best fan, but it's a lot quieter than the stock ultra fan. That thing must be defective or something because it has a kind of clicking, whirring sound.
Anyway, now that I have the RAID setup and everything is working I want to get to work overclocking the CPU a little bit, but I'm worried about heat in general. I think there has to be a better way to arrange things.
I might be willing to get rid of the optical drive, and then I can get a 2x 5.25" --> 3x 3.5" bay converter and I think that would solve my problems, but then in order to play DVDs I'd have to put the disk in a drive in another computer and share over the network....which I guess isn't a terrible solution...but not so friendly to the other people in my house who know jack shit about computers if they want to play a DVD.
