Hello. Please move this if its in the wrong section. Okay So I got an old gateway POS computer. Im bareing it out. It has 256+64mb of ram. I put in a "40" gig hdd(maxtor) from 1997. I dont think its 40 gig because on my good system it reads like 4. It has a creative "es1371" sound chip on the mobo. um a intel celeron, dont know the speed. I put in a cd drive. Ill read the sticker off the back. Micro atx case. MPG DATE. 1/11/99. Model no> G6-366C. I put a wireless network card in it.

okay its a gateway G6 366.
basicall what Im asking is for advice. I customized the case a little bit and removed the floppy and made the wires neat. I may put a small cut down version of windows on there. Or linux. Im not sure. Any suggestions? Can I put mac osx on it? lol thanks all.
 
No, MacOSX will not work on it. I believe you can get an x86 port of Darwin, which is the underlaying *nix behind OSX.
I was unaware there was a "cut-down verison of Windows." I thought all verisons of Windows were loaded with bloatware.
Linux will install but there is never a sure chance that all your hardware has easy to find drivers.

What verison of Windows are you running on it? It may only see 4GB because older verisons of Windows could only see so much of the hard drive.
 
Where can I find that version of darwin? And its goin to be xp pr sp2.


I am having problems wi th the computer. It wont boot from the disc like I set it to do in the motherboard.
