Take the x-qpack and all of its clones as a starting point.

Raise the motherboard tray up about 4 inches and mount it there on a shelf. Now just tuck the PSU and the drives underneath. When you put the system together, you'll be able to tuck all the wiring under there out of sight as well.

I'm all about windows (not Michael Microsoft's Windows) so there would be windows at three sides like the qpack clones, except they would half-height and shifted up on the side panels. With mesh in the lower half for ventilation. You could even put a window in the front panel with this design.

So you would basically be able to cleanly display your mobo, gpu, etc up top, display-case style. All the junk would be tucked below out of sight, out of mind. I don't why why they didn't make the case that way in the first place. It would look much better and be easier for the user to work with.

I like that idea alot, not because it would look better with windows, but because of the separate thermal chambers, just like the P18X/19X series from Antec. Taking the Q-PAck as a starting point, the cpu heatsink would be right next to the 120mm exhaust fan, so a fanless Mini Ninja could be used. A vent underneath the PSU would provide bottom-mounted fan PSU's with cool outside air, so it would never ramp up under load, unlike in current cases where the PSU is either above the cpu or right above the hot graphics card.

Such a case would probably be taller than a Q-Pack, or it could be the same height if a 92mm exhaust fan was used instead.

Oh, I'm sure it's been done a hundred times. I've seen similar cases, but they were all full ATX. Where's an mATX version? Also, full plexi construction doesn't hide the stuff I want to hide.
 
It's not a bad idea, but it's basically what alot of cases do now, only inverted. The X-Gene Mini almost has a straight split except for the drive bays which ruin it, the Lian Li V350 have an invisible separation.

The problems with having the drives, PSU and power supply on the bottom and having a fixed division:
-routing of cables to the drives. The best setup I can think of would be to have the 3 1/2" and 5 1/4" drives opposite of each other, but squeezing in to connect the SATA cables would be difficult and frustrating.
-aesthetics of having the DVD eject from the front bottom of the case. Odd looking and design is as important as functionality.
-heigh for CPU cooler

I really like the idea of having windows on all sides, but then what about cooling? Where do you put the intake and exhaust fans? You could put a 92mm on the back and 1 or 2 92mm somewhere in the front, but the single 92mm exhaust fan with a short cooler is going to make things hot. You also would waste about 90mm of space in the top front of the case.

Venting will help, but you will definitely need active cooling on your drives to keep them stable. That would probably mean putting an 80mm on the side and screwing up your aesthetics some more.

Alternatively, you could take your build and put everything on top, but mount the drives above the CPU and indent that section to provide room for taller heatsinks.

Anyway, among the better case ideas people have had.
 
buy a rivet gun, rivets, make a design something through frontpanel express.com and could build your own. AC Ryan sells Aluminum and Acrylic sheets.
I will say though, that finding a worthwhile case is the hardest thing to find, for me anyway. Next would be cooling solutions. I'm trying to do Liquid in a SG01 as we speak.
