Well , every once in a while my HD will make a few short beeping and clicking noises. I don't know if this is normal or if I should start looking into a new HD. Thanks ahead of time for replying.

Edit : Everyone once in awhile I mean like maybe 2 or 3 times in a week with my comp on 24/7

I would say it's not normal, some times though clicking can be a thermal head reset.

At this point you prolly can not do to much with it. It has not completely failed. About the only thing you can do is to run a drive test and see if it gives you a error code.

Funny you ask this question because mine was actually making noise too as well as the occasional hiccup...UNTIL it just died 20 minutes ago. o well

seems like a few of us are having a dying hdd problem. btw, is yours a WD 80GB SE?

i think my next set of hdds are going to be hitachi 80 GB SATAs in a raid setup.

If you have a WDC you can use the utility from there site and it will tell you whats wrong or if you need to RMA.

Also, if you use Speedfan there is a tab that you can check it also. Anytime drives start making noises other then the normal hum, its probaly time to RMA...
