I'm pretty new to the world of high end gaming. Somebody told me that maybe my video card was causing my game to lock up everytime I play. I have an ATI Radeon X800. I also have a Dell XPS, maybe that's my problem. I've downloaded all the latest drivers, now I'm pretty much at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.

Did this video card come in the Dell?
Which Cat's did you download and install?
Did you completely remove all fragments of drivers from the registery?
If you left any old driver fragments in the registry, this can cause this type of problem.

ATI has a cat remover on thier website. After running this program, delete all the files on the harddrive.
Then I go to regedit and search for Radeon,
I delete all the keys that are in reference to the drivers.
There will be 4 keys that are not deleteable, but the new cat files will overwrite these 4. All the rest I delete completely.
Then reboot and install the new cats, I always select the Express Install program.
After the final reboot, I enter desktop properties and set the resolution where I want it.
I go into advanced settings and set the refresh speed for the monitor, I scan over all the pages of the control panel and make sure everything is good.
