Ok well after reading about the Abit IT90HD board i decided to build a nice SFF computer for my gf... (or my self havent decided yet)

Specs will be

Case
Still deciding on
Silverstone tj08 or
Lian Li pc05b (trying to remeber off the top of my head i think thats it

System
Abit IT-90HD
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 (so far seems to be a great OC'er on this board... and cant beat the price)
RAM <-- dunno yet? need help.... please recomend a nice 2gb (2x1gb) set for me... under $200 and also a ram that will not be a crappy overclocker ( i know with the budget it might leave me limited)
GFX will come later... if my gf ends up with this system... she only plays wow and the sims so the onboard X700 is plenty
powersupply <-- recomend something for that too... i was looking at those Type-R ones??? stay away? or they decent? ok i would need enough to power that system and future ATI R600 card (which if it meets that requirment it will run an 8x00 series too)

Ordered so far
Keyboard- $9 logitech :)
Mouse- Logitech G7 (she picked it... figures she picks the most expensive haha girls:rolleyes: )
HD- Seagate 320gb 7200.10 Sata
Optical drive- LG DVD burner

what a decent overclock ram speed i should get.... 800? more less? i was thinking about going to 2.6 maybe even 3ghz which this chip....i know it can go more but this might be for my gf so an amazing overclock isnt needed

I am waiting for my ABit board to come also.

As for RAM, I believe based on earlier posts the RAM is locked to certain speeds.

ie if you set it to DDR800 it stays at DDR800 no matter what you change the FSB of the CPU to.

In other words you really don't need or this board doesn't merit overclocking RAM.

Look at Corsair PC6400 2x1GB kit its $160 or so after MIR at Zipzoomfly.

Go with a real SFF case and not the mini-towers. The SG01 by SilverStone is nice!

I got a Qmicra sitting empty. Just waiting to see what happens with this new ABIT mobo. With a E4300 figure a top overclock of about 3GHz which isnt too shabby considering its about 1.8GHz at stock. That'd be about a 60% overclock or so. Not shabby at all.

yeah some have even passed 3ghz... dunno how stable... but def a solid bargin chip

These are in and out of stock. I ordered 4GB (2 pairs) and it is patiently waiting for a home. I took it to work and plugged it into my Hell Optiplex, just ot make sure it worked ok with memtest off Ultimate Boot Disk. Looks like the current price is $116 for 2GB, less than I paid FWIW.

wow.... i think im gonna go for DDR800 though

although that price is killer for 2gb kits... 4gb does sound nice

how stable is that stuff? for overclocking... havent heard much about the brand

im gonna stay away from OCZ cause someone was having issues with that ram and the mobo

i think i might go with the G.Skill they have at the egg for $129 and its red :)

well if u wanna overclock then your gonna have to get good ram, so i would say get the patriot
