How about it then?
 
1] Change CPU to AMD 64 3200+
2] Change Video Card to Radeon 9800PRO 128MB or 256MB
3] Get a Sound Card (perhaps Audigy Platinum 2.0 or w/e it's called)
4] Get 5.1 or Better (6.1 or 7.1) Speakers
5] Get a real Power Supply Unit (PSU), for instance, one from Antec
(however, your choice, 430W, is fine, just get a 430W one from Antec)
6] If you plan on OCing (OverClocking) your CPU, consider a better
HSF(HeatSink Fan) unit. Zalman makes a nice Copper one.
 
Looks good except for the handicapped video card

9800 8 pipes
9600 4 pipes (4 disabled)

For what you spent on everything else for performance, the video card just doesn't fit.

Downgrade CPU to 3200+,
Upgrade video card to 9800pro or X800.

That will greatly improve your performance.
 
that video card is plenty for a non-gamer, otherwise, do like everyone else has said and get a 9800 pro
 
i would suggest you get the powercolor 9800se 256mb, and pray that you can softmod it to a 9800pro. save you some dinero too. ;)

idk if he's experienced enough for that, cracked-BIOS flashing is risky at best. :p

yep I'd have to agree with the above posters, defo get a 3200+ (the price difference here is more than £100 :eek: ) and get a 9800 Pro (more future proof)
 
try a WD... anything but that drive...
other suggestions are right on the mark too such as 9800 pro and downing the CPU a notch.

AHH! I just realized he's only getting 512MB! I thought it was 2x 512!

Get 2x 512MB of that RAM, and it's your choice as far as 3200 or 4000, since it's an AMD, it doesn't have as high mem. req's as an Intel, so it's up to you...but go 1Gig.
 
I would even say downgrade your CPU even further to 2800+64 and grab a 6800NU, if this is your gaming rig than itll be worth it, and if your getting an athlon 64 i would grab a gig of kingston or corsair value ram rather than premium ram, since your prob not going to be doing much fsb OCing
