My Computer won't boot?

I've had some problems with my computer, after I installed all my components into a new raidmax case.

First, it just wouldn't work at all, it turned on, but it just suddenly turned itself off.. I installed everything on a carpert, and figured I'd fried something. So I just put my case away, and took out my 9800pro.

My 9800 pro worked in my Celeron, so I decided to try my " fried" motherboard, RAM, and CPU out without the case. Well, it worked.

I put everything back into my case, and put all my IDE cables in, and plugged in my fans, and finally everything else, the power, mouse, eternet cable, keyboard, and VGA cable.

Turned on the power, and it did not work. I was(am) totally confused.

I figured it was a power supply problem, but I doubted it because I just got a raidmax 420w PSU, although it's probably just a cheap thing that came with my case, but it did power my motherboard before. I disconnected all the power cables, except for the two that go to the motherboard. It still did not work inside the case. It was exactly the same as I had it outside the case, but for some reason, it didn't work.

What's the problem? My case?

Yes, it's your case. Those cases are notorious for causing systems not to boot

;) no just kidding. Sounds like you got some sort of grounding problem. I would suggest insulators on the motherboard standoffs and screws. I've heard of one particular motherboard that has this problem but I can't remeber which. Maybe someone else will post with further information to help you out. If you can check to see that nothing on the motherboard's bottom side is grounding out on the case...

edit:
BTW I love raidmax cases!

Thanks, I'll try that.

BTW, my motherboard is an MSI...Something. It's made by MSI, but it's not on their website. I got it from HP, so it's probably some kind of special HP-MSI motherboard...iuno.

Wow. Took the screws out and it worked.

First time I've gotten great help on the net, thanks.
