My computer keeps muting itself randomly!!

I have an Epox 8RDA+ with onboard sound storm sound, and it has started to mute itself randomly, it checks the mute tab, on and off repetitively, and eventually leaves it on mute. When I un-mute it, it will be ok for a few minutes, then start muting again! I originally though it might be a virus of some kind, but I recently formatted and AVG detects no viruses.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?
 
That's been happening to me the last couple of days randomly, with the audigy 2 zs after not having problems since i got it. Maybe there is a virus that's doing this? its weird.
