MX700 problems :( Owners please step in :)

So I've had my MX700 for around 2 years now when the charge starts to last a max of 48 hours usually 36 instead of the 7-10 days I was getting so I think 'hmmm, batteries dying...' and go buy some new ones. No change. 'hmmmm' I think and contact Logitech support who decide that the unit is faulty and send me a new one.

Plug it in, let it take on a full charge and two days later, you guessed it, dead :( Now at this point I think it's maybe due to battery state after storage so I cycle them a couple of times(I know I shouldn't need to on Nimh's, but I like to be sure) and yes you guessed it same thing.
My shop bought batteries last a little longer due to them having a higher mAh rating but still nowhere near what they should.

Now, the mouse and reciever have not moved, I have tried several different coloured surfaces to no effect. I have not placed anything new inbetween the mouse and reciever, nothing has changed...

Except that cpu/mobo/gfx/hd upgrade I did a while back...

Running an Abit Kv8, AMD64 3200, 1 Gig DDR400, Fortissimo III Sound, Sapphire 9800Pro and 2 Sata150 Drives in RAID0.

I don't see how it could but is there the possibility that the OS is telling the mouse not to go into standby thus causing the power drain? Have contacted Logitech again but am waiting for a response from them so I thought I'd ask the infinite knowledge that is the [H]ardforum :)

Any ideas would be great :)

You Got a MX700 back after a RMA... I got a MX1000 from my RMA after alot longer than 2 years.

As for you problem. To check if you mouse if going into standby turn it upside down and let it sit there. if the LED starts flashing then your mouse is definatly going into standby.

As for you problem. I suspect that you should check the contact pads on your mouse. if they are dirty or scrached badly then your mouse will not be reciving a proper charge.
