Are these units notorious for charging problems? I bought one for my Mom awhile ago and she always had problems getting a charge. She gave up and just uses normal batteries now,

I just got a refurb unit and charged the batteries externally. After using it a little I put it on the charging base station wanting to check if the LED showed green (full charge) or flashing red (charging). Well, when I put it down, the LED was dead, not showing red or green, and the optical tracking light on the bottom kept flashing like crazy like it was trying to read the surface it was on. I left it for a minute or two, but it stayed the same.

I find it hard to beleive I got two defective units in a row (although my refurb unit is suspect right off the bat). Is this a known problem with the Duo, or did I just get lucky?

I might add I don't think I installed the logitech software as I don't need all the fancy buttons. I don't think this should matter, as the base should still charge even when the PC is off, should be hardware only, right?
 
Fixed. My batteries weren't seated fully and the AC plug was blocked from being pushed all the way in.
