Hello
I am a student and for my next uni project I was thinking of a product that can be combined together with similar ones to form a more powerful machine .
Sorry but I am not so into computing and hardware and I want your help, so imagine 2 devices(lets say 2 galaxy s3) connected together with a results of more powerful specs like a gaming PC. I would like to know if its possible to combine multiple processors and graphic cards together as-well as ram and storage ( but in that case I think it is possible...)

Thank you guys I hope I was clear enough

also I would be grateful if you could fill these two surveys for my Projects too

A University project? Thinking about a product? Do you want to come up with an idea like, "I wish we had cars that could travel at the speed of light" and then have other people try to build it or do you actually want to make this project happen, like design it and build it?

When coming up with innovative ideas, the lower your technical knowledge, invention and research on the subject, the more money you need to back it up with. As an example with the cars that travel at the speed of light, if you already figured out how to travel at the speed of light and need help to find a way to see if it can be implemented on cars, or need money for building lots of them for sale, there will be a lot of people who will invest in you and give you money and support.

If you think an "idea" would be cool to have and you need someone to design and invent it for you, then you need to support it yourself with a lot of money.

In your case you are saying that you are not that in to computing and hardware, which I translate to, you don't know much about how processors work or even basic electronics. In this case, doing a project would be massively counter productive since in order to design a system that uses multiple processors combined with a parallely coded software to run on it, is the holy grail of all electronic devices right now. Most of us are sitting on 4,6 some even on 12 core CPU's in which many of those cores are sitting idle collecting dust because most software that we use is coded to run on one, maybe two cores only. A perfect distribution of computing is an extremely complex and a very hard task to do.

If this is for a business class where people pretend like they know things, but no one really knows jack shit... then yeah, It would be awesome to be able to connect all of our iphones together, and formed the Voltron ( if you don't know what this is, you are too young). You could be an entrepreneur , form the Pear corporation complete with a missing bite Pear logo and make millions of these and then even over take Apple. There is a business plan, lets get to work.

This has been possible for well over a decade.
Multi GPU has been the most useful but doesnt work in all games as it needs support from the game coders and maybe the video driver too, when it does work it can have issues.
Multi CPU is of limited use as a single CPU can have many cores, not all of which are used anyway. Higher speed cores are more useful currently.
Multi CPU Windows licences cost more.
System memory, video memory and storage capacity/speed are not problems with modern PCs.

You are going to re-invent the wheel.

What you want to do is figure out how to run them in a Beowulf Cluster. The only problem I see is they don't exactly have a fast communication port. Just USB? HDMI might have the throughput to handle it, but I'm not sure it would be enough.

Thank you for your answers !
I am a student in product design and I am going to design a product not actually make it work. But to design something I have to proof that there is the technology and a way to make it work.
