howdy people, i bought a generic ata to usb 2 case a while back and slapped my extra wd 40 gig in it and it works fine. the case itself has one power connector and a 4 inch long ide 2 position cable(one plug for a drive) i started thinking while sitting in class about aspects of the usb controller and was wondering if i used a 3 position cable could i hook up 2 drives to the one usb controller. has anyone messed around with this? does anyone know of a usb enclosure that allows more than one drive to be hooked up? i don't remember the brand or the chipset that is it the enclosuer but it really got me thinking....anyone?

Chances are that you can't, but if you've already got the stuff and no soldering is involved, you could always give it a go and find out.

If it doesn't work, just put it back the way it was.

Not sure if it would work or not, but i don't see a reason not to try it.
