Hello, I now have another spare drive, as my son dropped the seagate USB drive off his shelf. No biggie, but im wondering if its possible to make an array, where I can use these couple Sata drives I have act as all one drive letter, in say an external enclosure. I dont care if they would all operate at the lowest speed, it would just be for backup storage/movie storage.

Is this possible, or would each drive end up with its own letter? Id just hope I could use these 3 or 4 drives in a single drive setup, to give an overal size. (not like a raid etc)

Well never mind, this seagate Free Agent (seagate 7200.11) just beeps now. No spin up, looks like he killed it.

JBOD is what you are thinking of in one sense, but from there you get into RAID levels, being raid 0,5,6,10,50,60 et cetera

Yeah, i gotta read up on raid, I just have several spare drives, of different sizes, that id love to put in without having 10 drive letters to deal with.

different sizes your looking at JBOD, raid likes same size drives, preferably same model and make aswell..
