Hi everybody!

Well, i thought that XP2800+ in the 266 flavor weren't MP modable. But lately i've seen some from ebay germany!!!! What do you recon? Do able or not?

I rememebr reading somewhere that there is a trace that can be cut/penciled on the CPU to make any Athlon XP into a MP. Unfortunatly I dont have a link for you, but wanted to let you know it was workable.

I know about L1 and 2 bridges. But i've been out of the game for some time, and as far as i'm aware the barton, or throughbrred (don't know which is the latest) bridges weren't accessable on the latest chips.

You just need to close the last L5 bridge to turn any Athlon XP into a MP.
My success rate on 2400+'s is 6 out of 7.

Edit. Are they true 2800+'s or 2400+'s modded to 2800+ by cutting the 3rd L3 bridge ?

Long time no se, how are you since we last posted on the same thread? Well, about theses being 2800+, i thought yes, but as i can't find the link anymore, i wouldn't be able to tell. Yes, true L5 bridge! My mistake. I'd like to upgrade from my Dual MP1900+ (real early ones which are dissipating lots, theses were from before the 13 micron ones IIRC) I've got some memory comming, but, a litle more powah would be nice! With any AMD CPU from the Thunderbird to early Barton by altering which bridge is made/broken you could change what it was.
The best one was the old XP1700+.
By closeing the last last L5 bridge you turned it into a MP CPU.
Then by cutting the last two L3 bridges you turned it into a 2400+ CPU.
So two CPU's that you got for around $50 each ended up with about a 95% success rate as two CPU which if brought new were $200 each.

Play with that and you will see what happens when you alter each set of bridges.
But most modern CPU's are now locked so most of the bridge altering won't work anymore.

Wait a minute, could I change my 2600+ t-bred to an mp of some sort and unlock that multiplier? It's stuck right now at 12.5. I use a 200MHz FSB, but i'd like to bump up the multi just to see the results.
