Ok so I won this mp3 player form a company x-mas party last year. it's nothing fancy but it does it's job. The model is a U.S. Logic MP3 Player BA 500 but its a 256mb version.

The problem I am having is its lack of staying sync'd with my pc. It works well with my pc at work which is an old Gateway pII w/windows 98, works fine with my roomates pc running Windows XP, and works fine with my managers pc which is a Dell running XP. It pretty much works fine and stays sync'd with all pc's except mine.

This is what it does I plug in usb to my pc from the mp3 player the removable disc icons appear under my computer, it will work and I can see the mp3 files on there but within 30 to 45 seconds I get an error that says please insert removable disc. (not staying sync'd) The icons stay there but if I try and click on them it gives me the Please Insert Removable Disc. It doesn't do this on any other pc I have tried and transfers work fine. I have all the latest drivers for the mp3 player which from what I have seen are not very recent. I have all recent drivers on my pc as well. I even emailed there tech support. This is what they said:
Hi Ron,

I find the file manager software for this model to be buggie at best (especially in XP). I find that Windows Explorer works much better for file transfers in XP. The player will appear as “Removable Disk (x:)” and music files must be placed in the root directory for the play function to see them. This model has one other bug, and that is that the operating system will sometimes only allow for about 55 files per folder. You can load more on, but they will have to be in another folder, and to play them, you will have to shuffle them back and forth, so leave a little room for that.

Which I don't mind using explorer to transfer the mp3s to the player but it doesn't stay synced. There isn't any new firmware or anything for this model which I know this model is pretty unknown.

I do not have any problems with any other peripheals or hardware that are usb. Digital Cameras, my scanner, mouse, and printer all work fine. I've updated the bios to the most current and even checked any usb setting in the bios.

Here are the specs on my pc, Barton 2500, DFI Infinity MB, 1gb mushkin, 9800pro.
I have no where else to turn there tech support didn't help and it seems like I have tried everthing to get it to work on my pc. I don't wanna have to rely on my roomates pc to transfer mp3's. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Anyone, Anyone :-/

Would this have better luck in General Hardware?

If so could I get a mod to move it, please..........

Can the player be detected as a removable usb drive in XP without the company's drivers? If so, try uninstalling all of the drivers for your player and delete all of the software and files you installed. Are the drivers for it made for winxp?

After you remove everything, try plugging the player in again. Hope this works, if you haven't tried already. I'm just guessing that you didn't install the drivers and/or software on your manager and friend's computers and that is why it worked fine.
