I have an old ps2 mouse and my current keyboard. I cut the wire off of the mouse and I am thinking of using that to extend my keyboards cord length. Would just a simple little game of matching the colors and twisting the wires together do the trick?

I am asking this because for some reason, the mouse's cable is thinner than the keyboard's cable.

Thanks!

thickness of the wires doesnt represent the amount of leads inside. they could be exactly the same (i dont know). one wire just may have more/better shielding than the other.

as for extending the keyboard wire, it might just be easier to buy an extension for like 5 bucks. thats what i did.

Sounds like he's already cut them.

If you still have the connector, just try to match colors and pins; you want to make sure that the cable that went to pin 1 on the old KB plug matches the cable going to pin 1 on the mouse plug. I'm not sure if they're color-matched, though.

Hope that makes sense.
