Okay, this is an ugly problem. I picked myself up a Supermicro PDSML-LN2+. It's a nice little uATX board for a small development server (with external SCSI and an internal RAID1.)
Picked up a Gigabyte GZ-M1 case. Guess what? That's right. Doesn't fit. Why? CPU gets in the way of the hard drive cage. Looked at more cases, same exact thing. Reason being, the CPU sits near the very front of the motherboard instead of at the rear, like most cases. This is what I get for not checking out the case in person (first time I've ever bought a case without doing that.)
So, I'm looking at the Silverstone SG01 and the XQpack. The rest of the parts are in hand; the PDSML-LN2+, a Xeon 3020, 4GB of Kingston ECC, Corsair VX450, pair of 73GB 10k Fujis that need to fit in the case, and a short-body DVD-ROM. Will the build fit in the SG01 or XQpack? My biggest concerns are obviously, layout and the size of that monster PSU.
Thanks!
