Monitor upgrade vs. GPU upgrade

Currently I am gaming on the rig in my sig. I upgrade things slowly and my spending cash that I save to buy things for the computer is about $50 a month. I am almost able to buy a little something after saving my pennies. My question is what would be the better upgrade for me? My next two purchases down the line in the order of your advice would be a high resolution monitor and a second GTX680. I play mostly RPG type games, my last few games were skyrim, deus ex, fallout, the witcher 2, kingdoms of amalur, and crysis 2. My current monitor is a Acer P243Waid was awesome for its time back in 2007 and still looks nice, but I do have an itch to see what LED + high resolution is like.

Since I budget only $50 a month if I were to buy a second GTX680 now, I would have to save for about 7 months to get a base model Achieva or Catleap, or, I could get the catleap or achieva now and save another 7 months for a GTX680. What do you feel is more important as a next upgrade? What will have more impact on the gaming experience?
 
Get a nice big high end monitor. That single GTX680 will handle 2560x1600 with no problem. A pair of GTX680's would be wasted on a 24" monitor.
 
Since you already have a GTX 680, get the nice monitor now, and then a second 680 later. That way you can enjoy the monitor now and not be kinda wasting the second 680.

I would not say "no problem" but for RPG style games where framerate is not key you will be fine.

Not too many games it can't handle. A single one will do upper 30's in Metro at Very High. Looks like it is in the low 30's with Crysis but I can't find anything else out there perusing the review sites that it doesn't handle with very respectable frame rates. Either way, I think we both agree it'll certainly get the job done at 2560x1600 while OP saves up for a 2nd.

i remember when i bought my u2412m which is an e-IPS monitor a pretty awesome one at that...It was such a huge difference from the monitor i had.

the leap was HUGE and it took awhile to get a card to get the fps i wanted at 1920x1200 but the monitor first was a good decision. but you already have a 680 :p get the monitor is what im saying hehe
 
Get the monitor, just saw my brother's 27" 2560 x 1440 Catleap and it's a huge difference to the Dell U2311 he had as his previous center piece
 
Wow!! Such hunanimous decision for the monitor... Since I was not a judge at the latest pacquiao fight I guess I will go with the monitor. :) Thank you everyone for your insight. Hopefully I will have decent frames with a single GPU.
