Monitor menu tweaking out

Well for a while now my monitors brightness menu will pop up for a couple secs and then disappear. It does this completely randomly and is not constant, once or twice a day maybe? I think it's a problem with the button board. I think my options are disassembly and see if it's fixable, try to just get the on/off button to work, or scrap it and get a new monitor. It's an Asus VW266H and was bought on '09.

So, anyone deal with this issue? I've looked and there are no replacement button boards to be found.

I've got a GTX570 so if I get a new and better monitor it'll probably be time to upgrade that as well.
