im looking to get a new monitor around 21.5 inches would probably be best

i currently have a 19inch DELL E196FP

i have sensitive eyes when it comes to lcd/led screens so im looking for something reliable and that wont cause me to many issues with eye problems

i just built a new pc with windows 7 and the fonts are very blurry and thin so something that displays text very well will be great

i wont be gaming on it just basic everyday computing with some media work

i was looking at these 2

HP 2211x 21.5-Inch LED Monitor
ViewSonic VX2250WM-LED 22-Inch (21.5-Inch Vis)

both are in my price range and i would like to buy from amazon just cause i have gift cards and ease of return in case of a problem

Some people's eyes are more bothered by LED backlights just so you know, but it depends on the model and depends on the person too.

My best advice is to purchase from a place that offers hassle free returns, because there's a decent chance you'll have to take advantage of it. Edit: Amazon is a great start.

I have a little experience with the HP and it's 19" cousin. We use them for a couple workstations in my office and they're both surprisingly uniform brightness and color (for TN's). I don't notice any flicker from the backlights and the screen coating seems neutral (no crystal effect). Viewsonic's cheaper monitors haven't reviewed very well lately, so that's the only reason I recommend against it.

BTW, since it's in the price range, if you happen to run across Samsung 2333T's (the T is important); definitely consider it. They're approx 180-200 bucks and have a nice C-PVA panel that's very easy on the eyes at work. Text is particularly sharp.

Try disabling ClearType, that might help out with the font issues.

And you could also try some bias lighting. It'll help with eye fatigue and improve contrast perception.
