I recently purchased a Corsair H100 cooler and discovered it, like almost all H100 kits, is louder then it should be. The Corsair support forums have shown that the pump resonates if it gets over 12v through the molex connector, similar to the sound of a loud HDD. Corsair denies any issue, but it seems its very common.
Forum users have found that regulating the H100 molex connector down just shy of 12v, say 11.9v-11.7v makes the pump 100% silent. Some users have put in line resistors, and others have used fan controllers to dial the voltage down just a hair.
I was looking around, and Im having trouble finding a decent fan controller. I have the Corsair 500r and my front is very clean...I dont know how hot I am on added a pile of knobs....that and I only need to use 1, most fan controllers have a bunch of dials.
I was looking at some of the LCD fan controllers with touch screens, but they all seem to have poor fan control - ie: most adjust by 10-20% intervals where dials allow much smaller adjustments.
I considered one of the controllers that site by the PCI slots, but I was unable to find anything other then 3 pin controllers where I need the molex.
any suggestions?
