I just got done spilling beer in to my sig rig.....

right through the top 120mm fan holes.....

not a little, like 1/3 a bottle.....

I'm typing this post on said rig right now after cleaning it all up... no damage that I can note.

Dang I'm lucky tonight.

Zink, it shutdown when I ripped the power cord from the wall......(but not before) Really it's fine, its an 800D there is a 5" gap between the MB and the Drive rack, all the beer went down that gap... I'm dang lucky.

Normally I do routine maintenance like dusting with the computer running (I'm not gonna loose points by stopping folding to dust, just don't stick your fingers into a spinning fan.....). I pulled the cord from the wall, opened it up, surveyed the lack of damage, dryed it out, crossed fingers and booted it up. It posted (thank god).

Temps on beer? Yanno, I didn't think to look.

no tears, just me yelling "oh crap, oh crap, oh crap"

ruined the episode of "Son's of Anarchy" that I was watching.....I finished it after I was done cleaning.

WTH, were you drinking and checking out your rig at the same time LOL

Glad to hear all is well. I have spilt drinks into my sig rig, but thankfully it has always fallen in places that can't do any damage.

the beer goggles made his rig more sex0rz

I would prefer Captain Morgan..... but then I'm a sailor partial to rum.

Glad to hear its ok, I had someone spill a beer down the front of my V1000B back in college and didn't discover it for a couple days (it was a hazy weekend). By this point everything had dried and I had the optical drive and front fan quit working a couple weeks after. I popped the drive open after removal and it was just corroded all to hell. Beer is definitely not good for computer components.

Another time in college, someone spilled a whole pint on my running Latitude XT that I didn't discover until morning when tried to power it on and the led only flashed quickly before going back out. I picked up the laptop and watched as beer dripped from all open seams. Fearing the worst I took the battery and keyboard off and let it dry for a couple days....

and I'm using it to type this post :D

Sometimes you get lucky, sounds like you made out alright.

I can't believe how many of you guys carelessly drink around your folding rigs. I also can't believe how lucky every one of you guys have been. That top exhaust fan outlet will do you in as I know several people who have ruined their computers that way.

Too bad they stopped making these:

The lighter is a nice touch.

I'll pass. Grudgingly.

@amdgamer, I'll buy one for ya though. :p:p:p

I appreciate the offer, but i'll pass on it. If someone tried to smoke in my house, i'd bust their ass to the curb. I don't even let people eat around my computers, and anyone who comes in is required to take their shoes off at the door(or put on the shoe covers I provide). I do occasionally drink in my computer room while playing on the X360 or watching a movie, but my gaming tower sits on top of my desk. As a result, nothing could really spill into it.

heck, that is how my kid killed my Logitech G15 Keyboard......

dumped a can of Monster into it....

my computer is about to become a no drinking zone

I'm surprised you let your kid drink Monster. I would probably lose my temper if someone came and spilled something onto my keyboard or computer. I'm also glad I don't have kids right now....

he's 16......

as long as Monster is his worst vice, I'll be happy

Coolest dad EVAR  . I sure wouldn't even be allowed to drink that at home and I'm 17.

As far as D goes, I can usually brush of upgrades to my own rig, but when I got two GTX 460 for my dad and my younger brothers' computers he started asking questions:  "Your wasting power; what results have the lame geeks who run SETI ever found?; leave this to the dedicated superclusters; you can't just have servers hanging connected to my ISP all the time; do the researchers ever thank you?" etc. In the summer I will probably have to sell my headless bigadv folder and a GTX 460 or pay for power, and I think he still doesn't want D running on his email boxen, but if I don't mention it he forgets. I have everything pretty much straitened out now.

Today a box with 3 1TB 7200rpm drives came in the mail from the BST forum and he had to interrogate me to make sure I'm not wasting my money. Telling me that 10 years ago he heard about a hospital in Ohio that was so high tech it archived 4TB anally and so my single 500GB drive should be fine. In the end he doesn't really care, he just likes to pretend he's keeping me safe from the upgrade bug (he never questioned the two X25-m I have in raid 0 because they're too newfangled for him to debate me about ;) ). If it wasn't for me he would still be using the old 900mhz Athlon I upgraded him from last Christmas (on the condition that I reinstall XP and all his 10 year old software  ).

It's not as bad as it sounds, he's never actually said I couldn't buy more D. I just like to rage.
