Coming from 2 dell 20" ultrasharps (2005)......both have died on me, I am thinking about going to a 2209WA. Gaining some real estate and the resolution will be the same as far as I know. Will there be any image quality difference with the 2209 vs the 2005. Granted, the 2005 technology is about 3 or 4 years older and I am not sure what kind of panel the 2209 has. At the time, the 2005 had one of the better panels but needless to say both of them have "flickering" problems (reminds me of the old tv's....need a knob to adjust it but its not there....lol). Anyway, just wanta know if I will be sacrificing any quality with the 2209. May have to look at newer monitors with the higher quality panels. Don't really want to do that considering I can only get about 3 or 4 years out of the investment.

thanks

well after doing some searching it appears that the 2209wa is an ultrasharp...

The technology has indeed improved since you bought your 2005. The 2209WA comes with an e-IPS panel, so I wouldn't expect any decrease in quality (actually, quite the opposite - especially true for response times). Then again, I have never seen a 2005 in person, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

The 2005FPW had IPS Panels in them. That being said the 2209 is very similar.

I think the color quality on the 2005FPW will be hard to match even with the 2209 (Yes I have seen both, and have 2 2005FPW still though I use my 2709W).

I would feel it will be a push overall to me. Larger, and very close in image quality.

Really? You use the 2709W over the 2005FPW? Do you do any web work, by any chance? I was looking at it, but I couldn't find any proper reviews and, alsol, I'm not too sure about the wide gamut (does it do a decent job emulating the sRGB color space?) and, to be perfectly honest, I find a max brightness of 400cd/m2 a bit scary (I mean, even at the lowest setting, how low can it be?). What's your impression of it?
