What exactly are those? I've looked around online and it looks like(and from what I can tell by chit chat on here) is that you plug in only the cables you need? That'd be nice since I am actually looking for a new PSU right now. So, can anyone suggest one? I'm assuming since its a new thing they might be buggy? I need one with a 24 pin connector and possibly SLi compatable. I'm not good with PSU's and I did read the FAQ and stickies at the top but its all jibberish to me. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

PS...since I am building the system from scratch I'm not sure of the specs yet. However I can say that it will be a higher end gaming system so I was looking for a good quality 500+ watt one. I'd rather not sped more then $170 on it.

Thanks agian.

yes - your assumption is correct on what a modular PSU is.

they pretty much all support 24 pin and SLI nowadays.
My Antec NeoPower 480's been reliable for a coupla years now so no "buggy" issues here.

Yes, you plug in only the cables you need. It does make for slightly tidier innards but your selection becomes limited.

Recomend any good ones?

Unfortunately, I've been looking as well and there are very few quality options on NewEgg that are actually modular.
I'd rather keep it $125ish but the Enermax Liberty seems to be the only one i am feelin and i'm not that nutz about Enermax...
I considered the OCZ but it seems to have weak rails sometimes. I have a non-modualr PowerStream now and adjustable pots are nice, but the OZC modular lacks them...
There is a pricey Silverstone on Egg in your budget but I'm hearing SS is using less quality parts these days.
I'm not happy with the modualr options at all and i kinda need to order one tonight.

From who? The Antec fairy? Or a little birdie named Thermaltake? ;)

The Silverstone PSU is built by Enhance. One of the better manufacturers.

Silverstone STrider ST60F (arguably, the best modular): http://www.frozencpu.com/psu-172 $149

Another problem you're having is that Newegg's prices are horrible on power supplies. Use eWiz, Xoxide, FrozenCPU or ZipZoomFly. Even Tiger. All of which often entertain rebates and some have free shipping. I've had no problem with any of the above.

And if you're not feeling "nutz" over the Enermax but actually considered an OCZ, you need to read up. ;)
