I just scored a free Compaq computer, old, but well kept installing XP on it.

I don't have the money to buy another wireless card, and for what the computer is going to be doing, (folding and storage) it's not worth the money.
My computer i'm on now has a wireless super G car in it and an onboard LAN.

I need the computer to act as if it was a router so I can connect to the internet on the compaq through the main computer's wireless access to the router.

Is it possible? it has to be, anything is possible...

Yes, it's definitely possible. If you're planning on putting a BSD or Linux on it, look at IP forward and iptables/ipfw/pf. I wouldn't know how to make it work reliably in a Windows environment.

You don't want it to route, you want it to bridge. Well if XP is setup on that machine then just bridge the two network interfaces. In network connections highlight both, right click and bridge. THen use a crossover cable from NIC on that machine to the NIC on the new machine. Pretty straightforward.
