I have sort of a dilemma. I need to find a 90 degree pvc elbow that will connect flushly to pipe. Usually when elbows connect to a piece of pipe, the pipe fits inside of the elbow. In my case, I want to have it so that the elbow and pipe are the same diameter and are connected in some way. I was thinking of some kind of coupling that could go inside of the elbow and the pipe, but wanted to know what you guys suggest.

Thats the way they are designed to be connected. Are you plumbing or modding?
Will you be carrying air, water, or sewerage through the pipe? Alternate sugestions will depend upon the answers ....

There won't be any kind of substance running through the pipes, this is solely for modding purposes.

inside tube w/PVC glue, or a bit of super glue.
if its gonna be under more stress then superglue can handle, try epoxy putty

Try this out at Home Depot or wherever you go to get plumbing stuffs around there: Pick up whatever size female-female elbow you want. Match it up to the appropriate male pipe size that fits inside the female elbow. Now match that same small pipe up to a larger size pipe and see if the small one fits fairly snug inside the big one. When you get the larger pipe size figured out, compare the outer diameter of the large pipe to the elbow. If the OD is the same, then buy all 3, using the small pipe as the coupler, which will attach to the inside of both the large pipe and the elbow. Dunno if that will work, but should only take a few minutes to try out.

I don't quite understand what you mean. If I put the glue inside of the pipe, then I'm not sure how the elbow will connect to it if they are the same diameter.

@bitchnmoan
I might have to do just that.

Does anyone know of a good pvc supplier online that has some photos of their products?

for the superglue... you put it on the edge of the 2 pipes. its pretty darn strong

for the epoxy putty, its like pladoh, if you can reach the joint (from the open end of the elbow) then you just kinda lump it in. it hardens in 5 minutes to harder then steal.

in both cases, roughen up the surfaces before to get better adhesion.

homedepot has pvc

Jut go down to your local Home Depot or Lowes. Its going to be far easier to match the pipe fittings that you want that way. Since you are going for aethetics, and not structural (or carrying sewerage), the options open up to you.

I have my doubts that you are going to find a pipe with an outside diameter that matches the inside diameter you are looking for ... most of those fittings act as a sleeve on the outsid

PVC is easy to join. The sell this blue stuff in a screwtop can near the plumbing stuff that is the glue you will need. how strong do you need the join? Is it going to be load bearing at all? You might be able to get away with taking a piece of pipe of the same diameter, cutting off a 2 inch section, slicing a piece off the side so it will fit inside the pipes you are joining and then using the pipe dope to glue together. The join want be perfect, you may need to bond the outside to get it smooth, and no gaps.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions everyone. The weight that it will bear is a microATX board, a hard drive, and a slimline cd. I guess that it's back to Home Depot for me.

for my $0.02 USD i think Bitchnmoan has a good idea, find a pip that goes over the pipe that fits into the elbow, then glue it up if you can just pressure fit it, you can get the stuff your suposed to used to fit the pipes if your realy woried about it moving around on you,

good luck and happy modding

I think that the chance that there are two different pipes that fit like that is pretty low, but we'll see what happens.

gt some practice pipe, get a radius, heat it and bend it, I used to do that when running PVC conduit for electrical installs, cheaper than a 90* elbow too.

You could always check out www.mcmaster.com - they usually have some really nice pics (drawings, actually) of the stuff, plus they're really good about listing the dimensions of the parts.

@MD_Willington
That could work, but I don't think that I want to go that far just for this idea. Thanks for the tip though.

@Bitchnmoan
Good idea, I should have remembered to check out their stock.
