:mad: i was trying to make a blowhole for my comp case and i just came across a somewhat large problem.. I just finished cutting out the blowhole w/ a holesaw and i need to drill out holes for the fan screws and my power drill lets me down. The drill bit im using attaches to the drill magnetically and its literally impossible to drill a hole in metal ( the drill bit stays still while the drill spins like crazy) . And i cant go out and buy some new tools or anything because im short on money right now.
Can i make some sort of exaust pipe to cover the fan up? Or can i continue on trying to drill holes for the fan screws, can i just solve this problem by just simply having more patience, or is the problem im encountering normal? Also is it supposed to take a long time to drill out holes for the fan screws?

Don't force it if it's not going to drill. What drill are you using anyways? If your short on cash then get a cheap dremel and finish the job (slowly, again don't force the it!). You could just leave it open helping all that hot air get out.
 
Another option would be to go to a hardware store and pick up 4 sheet metal screws long enough to pass completely through the fan, along with nuts and neoprene washers (these washers will reduce noise from fan vibrations). You will also want to get some JB Weld or JB Kwik. Run the screws through the fan where you would normally mount the fan (you can add a fan grill here if you wish), put washers on both sides of the fan and tighten the nut onto the the screw. Now, put a spot of JB Weld (or JB Kwik) on the screw head, and place it on the inside of the panel you cut. The end result will be a blow hole with no visible mounting screws. The total job should cost you less than $10
 
your sure there is no key or cuck to tighen the bit, (its kinda odd, and silly but ill take your wod on it) if you have a dremil, some wood and a nail or all, you can do it. put the pannle on some wood, hammer the nail in where you want the hole, (a hard quick hit should do) this should dimple the metal, and you can grind it out on the other side, and then slowly open up the hole you just made by grinding the underside of the dimple..

you can also just glue it down, hell you can use velcro, or crazy glue even fun tack (blue tack) may work for a while if you need a cheap grill for now you can alwase try to cut holes in a CD and use that, or just find some one willing to drill the holes out for you (you live in NY i dont have much planed for sunday)
