Well I decided that I should overclock my 5900 Ultra, so I popped off the stock heatsinks. I found a low profile P4 cooler, and got some thermaltake ramsinks and had at it.

Ill add some in case pics... i had to change the fan as the big LED one that you saw was doing worse than a 60mm I had on there before.

ok ok... I guess ill have to give u guys some results... :p


well for the stock clocks it dropped idling temps to 31C and under load it rose to somewhere in the high 30's and low 40's

the OC currently on the card is 570/970

the temps are a tad higher during load... 50C is the highest and i believe that was with 4x FSAA

the performance difference is crazy.... my Aquamark 3 score is 58K

from the other thread and the core temps high was ~48C in a 30min test
 
time to slap a 5950 bios on that puppy, you might hit 600MHz Core 1GHz + with that bios update.

is it safe to do tho? using a different BIOS on my eVGA card?

volt mod that puppy after flashing it to the 5959 bios (its safe as long as you know how to do it)

**UPDATE**

Just the other night I flashed the BIOS on my 5900 Ultra to the 5950 Ultra. I have gotten the core to 590 and the mem 1GHz the Aquamark 3 score only rose 600pts and have not had time to test games.

I will make another update after ive had time to fully test the card with multiple games and different core and mem speeds.
