i have a spare i5-670 quadcore cpu laying around and would like to build a itx based hackintosh. does anyone have any information on what hardware is compatible osx? im will be solely running Plex media center.

No actually you have a i5-670 dual core, not quad..

As he actually has a dual core its clarksdale based & he wouldn't need a discrete GPU

I would look for some forums specific to hackintosh & found out what the general components are thats comparable.. But I imagine the gigabyte board would par well with your CPU in a hackintosh.. That or the Intel DH57JG may be a better option.
 
That why he would need a discrete GPU, clarkdale graphics are not fully supported under OS X...thing is I posted the wrong url :D

Ahhh OK.. I thought you were basing that off of it being a quad & therefore lynnfield CPU..
 
Here is my setup. Works perfect except for the onboard WiFi (I have the Realtek, not the Atheros... Zotac ships both, but it's looking like it's all Realtek now on this particular board which is incompatible with 10.6).

Intel Xeon L3426 quad core
4GB DDR3
Zotac H55-ITX-C-E
nVidia GTX260

Feel free to use whatever hard drive, optical drive, case and PSU you want (I am personally using the Seasonic X650 and it is amazing).

The Gigabyte boards are also said to be pretty damn compatible with OS X as well.
 
Maybe consider This due to cost & it seems to be a pretty decent board (good reviews on the net). And if not overclocking I would take this over the gigabyte just because of the guaranteed rock solid board.
