Mini ITX computer incompatible with all USB hubs?

Hello,

I have a mini ITX computer that works great for everything.

Except no USB hub will work with it. I have tried 3 different ones including a recently bought powered USB hub. Every time I connect anything to through a USB hub it doesn't work. Occasionally if I connect one thing only to the HUB it works but no more than one (which defeats the purpose of having it). I finally thought it might be a power issue so I bought a new powered USB hub but that is the worst of them all, when you plug it in with devices connected to it sometimes the computer won't even turn on, the computer power light just flashes on and off along with the printer power light. Although again the computer seems to power on with nothing plugged into the hub.

Of course as soon as you unplug the hub it works fine.

I now have to have a usb extension where you plug and unplug devices depending on what you are using at the time.

Is my computer incompatible with all USB hubs or am I doing something wrong?

Just to say again, without any USB hub connected the computer works flawlessly all the time.

There's a driver issue somewhere as virtually all USB 2.0 ports and hubs are plug-and-play.

Which motherboard do you have?

Which specific (brand and model) USB hubs did you use?

Have you tried going into Device Manager and uninstalling the (motherboard's) USB hub?

Hello thanks for your reply.

The model of the motherboard is Intel DH67CF

At first I didn't know how to find out what it was but I downloaded CPU-Z.

So now I will be able to update the drivers and bios etc. which have never been updated.

When looking at drivers I noticed there is a new Windows 8.1 upgrade available so I am downloading the upgrade first then I'll try new drivers.

Here are some of the hubs I have tried (although no necessarily from these particular ebay sellers).

Ok it seems to be working now since I updated to Windows 8.1.

Once I updated there were only 2 driver updates available from the manufacturer: LAN and the onboard audio (which I don't use). And I already installed the latest bios update in 2012.

It is working now with a mouse and a remote control receiver both connected to the powered hub (which I think is more connectivity than it ever achieved before) so we'll see later if it works with any more things connected.

Update: I connected 3 USB devices to the hub at once and it still works, so it's fixed, working great.
