I have an i5 4590s with a 1070, thinking it's time for an upgrade. Haven't kept up with things. What's the best route these days for a midrange upgrade?

And if you plan on replacing more than your video card, AM5 will be the way to go, even with a base model Ryzen 7600X. Later on you can upgrade to a 3D-stacked chip or something else when they do the 7K refresh.

Guess it's time for me to read up on team red again! Haven't done AMD since the Athlon 64 days. Thanks!

These days could be quite different really soon (new AMD release coming up) which could be the best option, if they release something priced at the mid range which I am not sure because of DDR5.

Otherwise, today-today, probably a 12400 or 12600k:

Good stuff. I think I'm going to see what shakes out in November, and hope that it trickles down to even cheaper previous-gen and used stuff :)
