Mid Range Cards?

[Killer69]

When are we going to see the new mid-range cards come out?

ie. the Nvidia 7600 (?) or ATI X1600/X1700 (?)

I can't possibly afford the 7800/X1800 based cards and I think it would be pointless to spend money on the 6600 or X700 right now.

Any ideas?

I read somewhere on www.tomshardware.com that the entire X1k series should be released by end of November. Here's the link: http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20051006/index.html

a pretty good article telling price and release and benchmarks.

Good to see that ATI has a schedule for releasing their cards...but does Nvidia have a date set yet? Even an estimate?

I'll assume that from the lack of responses nobody knows anything about a possible 7600 release...

Thanks anyways.

I would guess that if nVidia has plans to release the 7800non-gt, 7600's and 7200's they will do so before the christmas season. ATI plans to finish off the X1xx series by early November so I would expect nVidia to at least announce these releases by then.

That would make sense...a pre-Christmas release can't hurt.

Anandtech has a small article on the new G72 and G73 chips. They're going to be backwards-compatible with NV40 pinsets, so don't be surprised if you see your 6600GT's PCB on your new 7600GT.
