I'm going with a MATX build because I have a spare motherboard, I like all the cube styled Silverstone/Coolermaster MITX cases, but there's nothing that is set up the same way for MATX cases besides this APEVIA case. Are there any alternatives? I would like to use a regular ATX powersupply.

Look into the SG01 and SG02, they are both mATX and around $100.
 
some nice cases, has anyone dealt with any US vendors that carry them? specifically the V6?
 
nice, lots of good cases, just looking for something inexpensive as I want to piece a HTPC with spare parts.

This case looks fantastic despite not being a cube... 140MM fan in the rear and supports a 140MM air cooler. There aren't any reviews on the noise yet. Anyone else think of anything similar?

Be careful with the V6 case. It claims to support a standard ATX PSU, and it does, just barely. Way too cramped for my tastes, so I'm moving to a SFF PSU.
 
I got the Jonsbo U3 case, atm I've an Asus Itx board in there, but my plan is to fill it up with a M-atx and a HUGE air cooler.

I just picked up one of these. What is your HDD mounting situation like? I've got 1x3.5 and 1x2.5. My CM212 blocks the hard drive tray that hovers over the PCI area. I'm trying to find a solution that doesn't involve cutting into the case or having to use velcros.

Also, just a fair warning... working with a full size matx board in this case is a pita.
 
I've mount 2x 2.5" 750gb Wd black near the edge of the vent holes, if u look closely on the opposite of the fan on the NH D14, there's a white/grey area behind the vent holes. I've mount them using those holes for the Hdd bracket.
U can also mount Hdd's in the bottom of the case, and idd this case is a pita with M-atx, it gives me more pita than my SG05 build :

There is also the Lian-Li V354. Cube-Box like but not something I'd suggest for lugging around. As far as sitting on a desk though its pretty nice. Big enough for running dual GPUs if you want that kind of set up in matx..
 
i'm all about finding the best case that is as quiet as possible while keeping the temps down. From reviews, bitfenix prodigy looks amazing as far as noise and temps (MITX version, not sure about MATX). I have the fractal r4 which is great for noise, not so much for temps.. So i'm just looking for a MATX case that is absolutely silent, fits 140MM exhaust fan (therefore fitting 140MM air cooler) and has good airflow.

At that size u might take a look at sg09/sg10.
If u want a silence case, just replace all the hardware with moving parts out with passive cooling :), or u can install PWM fans that only spins up when the temps are high.

The OP was looking for matx so I threw the V354 as one possibility. Not sure I'd call it cube. More like rectangular box I guess but none of the cubes are exactly equal dimension sided anyway. :D
 
The Lian Li certainly looks fantastic.. i'd like even more matx recommendations that fit 140MM fans in both front and back. I believe the advantage of having a smaller case is that the air flow would be much better since air has to travel a shorter distance thus having superior temps.

^ In that picture, due to how the motherboard's layout the Hyper 212 had to be faced that way. It was pretty dumb IMO. If pointed facing the exhaust fan like it should, the fins come out too far and block the single pic-e slot on the gigabyte z87, haven't got a new picture with the H60 yet. I just got it installed today. You should look into it. The window side panel is a nice touch and the case looks nice IMO. The SSD cage (mounted beside psu) is great and the front 3.5" cages are removable along with the 5.25, 3.25" cages as well. If you have a nice watercooling setup, you can't go wrong with this case and displaying your GPU through the window is again a nice touch, to each there own.

I saw the aerocool as well, I saw the temp benches for it, would like to see how silent and how cool it is compared to a fractal r4..
 
That aero cool Cube has same size as most M-atx / Atx cases, and that's not small.
