Okay i've been all over the place to find a solution to no avail.

From the top. I had a mobo that used realtek onboard sound card and i replaced it because it died. The new mobo is an ASUS m3a78-cm which also has a onboard sound chip. (a VIA chip i guess... never heard of them.) One day i was trying to broadcast on justin.tv and realized i had no "stereo mix" option anymore so i went searching for new VIA drivers hoping it would fix it and i ran into my first problem of this endless nightmare.

The install shield 9 wouldn't install it. I kept getting an error near the end "String PRODUCT_NAME was not found in string table", the program uninstalls everything and i get that error again before it ends, followed by "String VMS_SCFMULEfFile_Name was not found in string table","String VMS_DLL_Name was not found in string table". So i go into device manager go to sound, video, and game controllers click update drivers on the sound and choose the file i unzipped and restarted.. I got stereo mix back!

But now i when i go into a music recording program like magix or mixcraft4 my mic is barely recordable outside 3 cm. from my face and i have to scream to get that... anything thats not a yell wont transfer to anything more than mumbles..(i do mumble but not that much). So i go into control panel / sound to look for mic boost and its gone... so i try configure / setup mic. But it says it can't hear anything. and people on vent are saying im really quiet unless my mic is close to my face and im talking loudly. (which i already do)

Im pretty sure if i can get the v7300a driver to install properly it'll all work out. And i went everywhere, even trying to find micboost in registry and putting anything that said mic db boost from 0 to 1 and nothing has worked... any ideas?

system specs:
windows vista 32 bit home
ASUS m3a78-cm motherboard
VIA chipset
got the latest v7300a drivers from the asus site.

sorry for the long post and if anyone says go to control / sound and slide the silver slider to +20 db ima shoot them!!! im tired of hearing it.. ITS NOT THERE!
