I have been told that I might be able to solve the problems with paging errors on my Raptor by disabling "NCQ" on my drive. This involves the Device Manager and the nVidia nForce4 SATA Controller. The only problem is, even after using DriverCleaner in safemode and reinstalling the chipset drivers, this SATA controller does not appear in my Device Manager! How can I fix this?
 
in device manager, if you "view device by connection" and dig down until you find the HDD, you will see your nVidia controller "one level up" :)
 
Found it under SCSI controllers...WTF? Anyway, I figured out what was wrong with my Raptor. Native Command Queing was on. It was corrupting my data. It got so bad that I had to install the recovery console and CHKDSK /R from there. Now those stupid Event ID 51s (error detected during a paging operation) are gone, and boot time is lower!

NOTE: I bet my original Raptor might not have been bad, just so badly corrupted from the NCQ crap that only a zero-fill would have fixed it.

that is where all SATA controllers end up. It may change in Vista.

WDxxxGD series raptors did not come with NCQ, only TCQ, since they used a SATA-PATA converter chip.

edit: By the way, I linked you to a forum post explaining how to turn off NCQ in the other thread. You told me it did not apply. *shrugs*
