On my new Abit Ic7/P4-2.8c I've got 512mb Mushkin pc3200 level 1[2x256mb]. It's memory timings are 2.5/6/3/2 . I'm running at 1:1 with the fsb at 215 for 3.15ghz. All is well at this but I know it will go higher. My question is "do I change the memory timings or just keep increasing the fsb?
I'm new to o/clocking anything but vid cards so help!
Oh, this Ic7 and p4 is in an Antec 1080amg case with 430 true power ps.

What I would do is proceed by step.

1) Overclock your cpu at maximum gradually while keeping the memory speed and timing at the lowest. So that way You will know whats the max of the cpu alone and you can find the best setting for stability of the cpu.

2) Once you have found the correct speed of the cpu.
Know start raising the memory fsb speed with the divider.
Try to be as possible 1:1, if not then 5:4 or 3:2.
Once you have found the best memory speed, proceed with "tightening" the ram timing by lowering it to the maximum.

Dont forget to lock your AGP/PCI bus to 66/33 or as close as possible.

Hope this help

So far I'm at : 220fsb/2.5 7 4 3 @ 1:1/ 2.7v = 3080ghz
Ran 3dmark2001 3 times[12,500-12,600] no o/c on the vid card and Sisoft benchmarks to check for stability- no problems
If I enable Turbo in the Gat it gets unstable when the fsb/cpu is o/c. With no o/c I can enable Turbo or street racer and get the same[more or less] 3dmarks.
The other day someone was asking about Mushkin lvl 1 pc3200 and how it overclocks. Well I'm working on it.
Now if I had a 9800 a whole lot of things would change.

edit: Video card is a GF4 Ti4200 128mb 250/513 default.
