Hi Guys,

I'm going to be purchasing some new memory for my machine, with which I want to overclock.

My current system:

P4 2.6C, IC7-MAX3, 2x512MB DDR2700 Generic.

I'm looking for the best ram, stability and overclockability wise, without going over 2.8Vdimm if possible.

I'm on a budget of $240 USD, i've been browsing newegg and have come to the following choices:

- Mushkin 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3500 Level One Dual Pack

- Kingston HyperX Series Dual Kits 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3700

- OCZ Performance Series Dual Channel Kit 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3500

- Geil Dual Channel 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3500

I know people are fans of different brands, i've done research myself and just wish to have other peoples inputs.

Thanks!

Honestly, I'd say opt for the Kingston HyperX. You can't find the Mushkin Level II Black with any level of ease anymore and that version was the stick that overclocked extremely well with the appropriate voltages.

I haven't messed with OCZ or Geil enough to recommend them to anyone.

How far do you plan on overclocking? I don't like HyperX 3700 because you have to run it at high latencies (3-4-4-8). If you don't plan on overclocking too high I recommend Muskin lvl 1, only thing is you usually have to run it at CAS 2 to get it stable so it will limit your overclock a little.

Corsair XMS or Mushkin.
Can't go wrong with either of those 2 for good overclocking and tight timings.

His budget is ~$240, I don't think he can get Mushkin Level 2 for that. I would recommend Corsair XMS. Go to ZipZoomFly.com for the 1gb twinx 3200 for $220. It's $235 at newegg.

_edit_ of course mushkin level 1 can come with the BH5 chips, whis is better for OC'ing, and you can get 1gig of 3500 for $215
