memory overclocking, how much voltage is dangerous?

I have some geil blue shield 3200ddr 512's in a 939 a64 board.Basicly i want to know how high is to high when your trying to overvolt some more speed out of your memory. Theirs plenty of options on my motherboard, i'm just trying to figure out whats safe.
 
that depends on the chips that you memory uses.

please post more info.

preferably the type of chips that your memory uses. failing that, make model and revision of the sticks themselves.

winbond BH-5, CH-5 and some BH-6 is reasonably safe up to 3.3 volts for at least a year of use. totally voids your warrenty, but then again overclocking things tends to do that........

another good overclocking batch is samsung TCCD. those, i would not reccomend volting up any higher than 3.0, since they have not been in common usage for people to have a good baseline on how long they will last at extreame voltages.

i fully expect that people will now say that 3.0 is too timid but that's my two cents.
 
TCCD seems to not need as much voltage to hit a good OC. Also, OCZ warranties their TCCD sticks for life at up to 2.9V.
