Memory issue

So for the past few months, I've been having this strange issue where my computer freezes randomly. I've noticed that it has done it more than normal when I'm trying to stream some sort of video, or when the computer is coming out of hibernation mode. I've slowly started upgrading things because lets face it, its a bit of an older machine (08-09.) At first I thought it might have been an issue with some sort of infection; so I completely reformatted the HD and re-installed windows (problem still existed on a clean machine). So I decided to replace the HD all together with another HD, problem still there. I finally made the jump to running my system on SSD's......problem still there. So here is my next problem (I figured it was a long shot but since I'm upgrading.....why not.) I came across a decent deal on newegg to 8gb of memory for like 29 bucks, so I jumped on it.

The memory came, I installed it one stick at a time. The problem is, my computer will not boot with either one of the sticks installed (tried installing them together as well). Is this bad memory, or does my motherboard just not like the new memory I have purchased? The only difference I see is that they have different timings and voltages.....can that cause them not to work?

Next time, first check power supply voltages with a digital multimeter or substitute a known good power supply, and run a self-booting memory diagnostic, like MemTest86/MemTest86+ and Gold Memory. You can't trust anything in the computer unless both the power and memory are good.

A 1.65V rating isn't exactly a sign of the world's finest memory, and I can't imagine anything worse, unless it's something with an even higher voltage rating....Yikes, 1.70V for the old memory. Voltage over 1.5V is a sign of factory overclocking, but 1.5V isn't a guarantee against it or against poor quality. Consider getting a stick of Samsung DDR3 for testing purposes because it's always good.

make sure you set the timing on the new memory to 9-9-9-24 2t first that should work perfectly. and like the last reply said try setting you voltage to somewhere in the 1.5 range anything over that is usually for an overclock. if that dosent work id say its your power supply. good luck
