Getting ready to piece together wc kit, and have a question that will affect my pump choice. Can the pump be mounted like this?

I've seen people argue this about orientation, but the manufacturer recommends for optimal performance to NOT mount it in this fashion. Pretty sure it has something to do with adequate lubing of the motor bearing.
