Who has one of these?
How does it peform/sound compared to other pumps you've had?
Would you buy it again given the chance?

I'm in the market for a good pump, and I only wanna do this once. A good pump will be the only thing keeping me from having a kickass watercooling once the chipset and radeon blocks get here.
 
the following is not quite a valid response but close to it... :)

I don't have a swiftech pump. however, I know a lot of heavy duty OCers that have tested it and several liked it enough to add it to their primary H2O systems.

my issue with this pump or any other 12v model - I do not want a pump on my 12V rail. I don't give a rip if I am running a 550w psu. A pump can be controlled thru a relay and powered by AC. If it doesnt have to be on my PSU, then why in the hell is it on there?That is also my main gripe about the vapo SE & PE systems (of course, running a compressor off of the PSU is one helluva lot worse than a pump that sucks a measley 10 or so watts). Under heavy OC power draw (with the usual associated volt mod action), PSUs are already screwy enough without pumps or compressors throwing another wrench in the gears. Of course, you can always shell out for a PSU that will handle it but I would rather spend that part of the budget on other components.

why?
because it is hella low wattage and if it was properly configured with other parts of the system, it would add very little heat to the water while still providing plenty of flow and head.

I have one it works fine and quiet but I haven't installed it yet. And I'll be running that pump in a separate PSU(Fortron 300w) coz like weapon, I don't like to stress my Antec 550TC too much.
 
It looks like you need to make sure you get revision 2 of that pump (which should not be a problem as retails should only have rev 2 by now) as the first revision had some problems with leaks.
the rev 2 seems to be good to go. no leak problems, low heat and high head. everyone I talked to appears to be happy with the MCP600 rev 2 performance.

I might just have to order one.

I've read all the reviews I can find, and it looks great. Low power useage, good flow, low heat, no leaks, and you don't have to worry about a relay. The only thing I would like added is RPM monitor. This way you could plug the CPU fan header on your mobo, and if the pump shuts down so does the machine.

Right now I'm running that rio aqua1400 in a disposable ziploc container for a res(mine failed miserably), through the heatercore(no shroud yet, cause it's not yet painted), and to the maze3. The proc is at 12x233 1.83 v actual, and hits about 44C full load. I fully expect great temps once I put the shroud on, and then I'll see what I can hit at 1.9v. Right now the HC and res are just sitting on the desk beside the case. I built a relay into a project box using the switch&plugs from a burnt PSU and a 12v relay. With a good inline pump I'll be able to fit it all inside the case!!

no probs. glad to hear the heatercore is working out for you. :D

as far as the shroud is concerned - I know this may sound like one hell of a difference, but in my past experiences with them, a properly built shroud will increase the cooling performance of a heatercore 35-40%. The one really solid comparison (using good measuring equipment and good control of all other factors) I have seen came up with similar results -- they concluded that a shroud produced a 40.9% increase in cooling with a core similar in size to the one you are using.

I am still tweaking the design of my shrouds to see if I can get anymore cooling out of them. the latest effort for the bonneville core looks like this in 2D form:

After doing the layout on the computer, I knocked out a version in card stock to test the dimensions (i.e. check my math) and then I made one from 22g steel. the steel version was immediately named the PITA shroud because I wanted it made from a single sheet of metal but I also wanted to keep the angles I had in my CAD version...that produced the PITA effect.

It is setting on the bench drying at the moment - I'll try to get some pics up of it later. It is solid as hell - one piece of 22g steel with brazed corners - the brazing alloy I used for the corners is rated to take 70,000psi (I am a big fan of overkill ;) ) For bending the angles, I contructed a half-assed brake press out of some 1/4"x1/2" weld steel angle stock I had in the shop. It worked better than expected - the angles on the shroud have a slight contour to them but they are very even.

Modding your core renewed my interest in the 6x6 cores - I am going to start tweaking my shroud design for those next. :)
 
How far off the core is good?

Mine ended up about 1.3" tall, cause the measurements were easy that way.
It's 1mm aluminum, and I just JB-welded the corners, and will sand them before I paint it.

looks good - most shrouds have somewhere between a 1.0-1.5 inch standoff. 1.3" should be good for smoothing out the airflow across the surface of the core without taking up too much space.
