I have a question regarding data recovery. i have the Maxtor maxattach NAS 4000 network hard drive which has 2 40gig drives (with a spanned directory) in it in some sort of raid configuration. i am wondering if it is possible to recover the dada from this device even if one of the drives has the tick of death and the drive as a whole no longer shows up on the network.
 
I would say that recovery would be the same as if you had two drives in a normal system spanned like that. Chances probably aren't so good.
