Does anybody know how many terabytes vista can handle? (asking for a friend)
He said XP will only handle 2 terabytes?

Thanks!

There is a limit of a 2 TB maximum volume size in XP on a basic disc. But even with a single basic disc, that would allow for 8TB of total storage on a single basic disk.

Switch to a dynamic disc, and the limits go WAY beyond that...

From the Windows XP resource kit - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/reskit/c13621675.mspx

"Supports large volumes
Using the default cluster size (4 KB) for large volumes, you can create an NTFS volume up to 16 terabytes. You can create NTFS volumes up to 256 terabytes using the maximum cluster size of 64 KB."

Vista has the same limits as does 2003 server - http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/b/5/5b5bec17-ea71-4653-9539-204a672f11cf/LocFileSys.doc

Thanks! I will tell him! He didnt want to split it up for some reason. hehe
