i have maudio av30..and my brother has an extra subwoofer. im not sure of the model yet . but is there anything i need to know if these will work together? i dont want to blow out either one. the wiring on the sub uses regular clip in speaker wire like the maudio av30
thanks

Is the sub powered or passive?

I always tend to stray people away from using active monitors in conjunction with subwoofers as there is no ideal way to hook them up, but some people seem to get on ok with them. Not to mention they aren't even possible to use at all if you are using a quality DAC.

If its a passive sub, your are SOL until you get an amplifier, but at the at point you are better off just not using the sub at all. If its active, you will need a standard 3.5mm to RCA cable and connect that to the Sub/Center out on your soundcard.

You will need to use Windows to control the volume (another reason I hate doing this) or the volume on the sub and speakers will not be even.

interesting...ill have to find out more about the sub

Even a receiver wouldn't work, you need a standalone mono sub amp.

not to horribly crash this thread, i also own a pair of lovely AV-30's, but offtopic.

been checking out some picks while looking for an audio interface and found them connected there, but

oppositely to how im setting them up and here is the question, if the speaker itself has "left"written on

its back should i place it to my left or to the monitors left ?
